Ray Davies Cancels East Coast Tour

Kinks frontman Ray Davies has cancelled this month's East Coast mini-tour with New York's Dessoff Choir, citing health problems. His website released this statement:

"Ray Davies' U.S tour dates have been cancelled. Ray personally did not want to cancel this tour but was ordered by his doctors not to fly or travel until his medical condition has stabilized to their satisfaction. At this moment, his doctors could not provide a time frame as to when he could travel to the U.S. and advised him to cancel below dates."

The dates supported Davies' latest album, See My Friends, which revisted Kinks songs with cameos from Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora, and more. (Very Santana Supernatural of him.) It was released on November 8.

The tour cancellation is a pity; Dessoff Choir would have served Davies well. The nondenominational ensemble focuses on choral works from the Renaissance through the 21st century, and certainly would've added a regal spin to "Sunny Afternoon."

Get well soon, Ray.

Cancelled Davies/Dessoff dates:

11/24/10 New York, NY - Beacon Theatre
11/26/10 Montclair, NJ - The Wellmont Theatre
11/27/10 Philadelphia, PA - Verizon Hall
11/28/10 Boston, MA - Wilbur Theater
