Coney Island Boardwalk Going Plastic

They're taking the board out of the Coney Island boardwalk.

Under a pilot program, portions of the famed boardwalk are being replaced with plastic planks that will last longer than wood.

It's all part of Mayor Bloomberg's effort to reduce the city's use of tropical hardwood.

The city has announced a rezoning initiative for the historic park, once the most popular resort destination in country.
