Colador: The Cafe-ification of Bed Stuy Continues

Last week, our new Bed Stuy correspondent Rachel Chang took a look at the new T-Cup cafe on Throop in Bed Stuy; today she pops into the recently opened Cafe Colador on Bedford.

It’s bumper season for Bed-Stuy, café’s-wise. Café Colador opened its doors on August 23rd on Bedford Avenue between Dekalb and Kocsiuszko. It’s a pretty big space with trendy wood-pannelling, and a great open-concept exterior. Manager Robert Jackie, 26, moved from Bushwick, and put his salesman career on hold to concentrate on the café. A very inviting interior - with free wifi - is pretty much packed all afternoon. They do free delivery too, from a pretty wide range of paninis, sandwiches, wraps, burgers and salads. Great breakfast options, and some pretty scrumptious sounding offerings like the grilled skirtsteak sandwich (avocado, swiss cheese, read onions). Opening hours are 6am to 9pm on weekdays, 7am-9pm on weekends. Mid-range prices ($1.75 for a large coffee; $6.95 for a Caesar salad; $8.95 for a burger). Cash only for now, with credit card facilities hopefully up and running in a month.
