Staten Island Lands a TV Show

Staten Island is getting its very own cop-drama TV show, to be appropriately named, "Staten Island."

With FX's "The Shield" wrapping up its final season, the channel is looking to stay in a similar vein - cops, politics, crime - set against a big city backdrop ("The Shield" took place in LA). The channel already has two shows based in NYC - Rescue Me and Damages - so Staten Island would mark a third, thereby completing the FX-Trifecta.

Writer/Executive Producer of "The West Wing", Lawrence O'Donnell, is on board to develop the new drama, which is said to focus on a "compromised police chief", who probably flirts his way around both criminals and the force in Staten. Its pilot episode is currently in production, and has yet to be picked up as a series.

The Post is guessing it'll likely be shot on location. I'd say that guess is right, as a show called "Staten Island" featuring the beautiful skyscapes of Miami would have me flipping the channel quicker than you can say "New York City's finest!"
