We were pleased to meet new NYC designer Katie Gallagher, via her candid interview with bunny Bisous, and look forward to seeing her Spring/Summer 2010 RTW collection, Veil, in the ethereal flesh after it shoes September 12.
The RISD alum has earned mild fashion tenure at threeasFOUR and Anna Sui, and has extended her knowledge on her own work, which play with structure and texture, and incorporating a consciousness of the human figure underneath and an eye for high design. Leather, silk, wool and synthetics in moody palettes drape intelligently in architectural silhouettes for a line that varies between ladylike and androgynous coats, hot leggings and retro blouses and skirts.
Gallagher looked to ghostly inspirations and the Veil of Veronica for her eponymous new line, and we'd tend to agree, that with her, a piece of material certainly becomes more than a sum of its parts.
