High Fives: Kerry Washington

At Keep A Child Alive's Black Ball last night, everyone was focused on Halle Berry's stunning, skin-baring ensemble and Iman's bow-topped dress. But we'd like to highlight an under-the-radar win of the evening: Kerry Washington's sculptural black-and-white sheath.

While the charming Becki Newton's architectural ensemble just didn't work, Washington's succeeds with aplomb because it manages to add an interesting, artistic twist to a dress that still manages to flatter the woman wearing it -- in this case, hugging Washington's pitch-perfect curves. The origami-inspired white strip is still allowed to be eye-catching, without taking all the focus off Washington.

We love how the whole effect toes the line of being over-the-top, but still manages to stay inside the lines.
