Charles Watson is a general assignment reporter for NBC 4 New York/WNBC, appearing weekdays and weekends during the station’s evening newscasts.
No stranger to the Tri-State, Watson worked as a general assignment reporter for FiOS1 News/WRNN-TV for three years. During that time, he covered a wide variety of local and national stories including the September 2016 pipe bomb attacks in Seaside Park, New Jersey and Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. He also covered the 2017 New York City Mayoral Election, the 2017 New Jersey state governmental shutdown and Governor Christie’s infamous “Beachgate” photo incident.
Watson joined NBC’s flagship television station in 2024 from 6ABC in Philadelphia, where he worked as a general assignment reporter. Prior to that time, Watson was a national correspondent and multimedia reporter for Fox News Media, covering eight southern states. He began his career as a reporter, morning anchor and producer for WRDE in Rehoboth, Delaware.
Passionate about helping others, Watson frequently volunteers his time serving adults with physical and mental illnesses. He also takes great pride in mentoring students, particularly those entering the field of journalism. A native of Philadelphia and a graduate of Temple University, Watson is married and lives in New Jersey.
