Trump on Election Recount: ‘Nothing Will Change'

Elections officials in Michigan have officially declared Donald Trump the winner of the state’s 16 electoral votes, but the fight apparently isn’t over. Wisconsin’s votes will be recounted thanks to the efforts of Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Every vote will have to be recounted over the next two weeks, and elections officials aren’t happy. “To say that we didn’t count them correctly the first time, you know, that it’s somehow illegal votes counted, is really inappropriate,” says the Wisconsin Elections Commission’s Mark Thomsen. Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are targets of a recount effort instigated Stein and supported by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. President-elect Donald Trump has lashed out on Twitter, falsely claiming he won the popular vote “if you deduct the millions who voted illegally.” It’s a claim with zero proof according to experts, including a researcher whose work is quoted by Trump and his transition team.
