Teen Launches Free Swim Classes For Other City Teenagers

Did you know drowning is the second leading preventable cause of death among 15 to 19-year-olds? New Yorker Sylvie Goldner, 16, wants to change that. She is the founder of First Strokes, a non-profit offering teens swimming lessons from other teens… for free! “For most teenagers, to not know how to swim when you are 15,16, 17 is super embarrassing… and you don’t want to take swim lessons with kids who are 10 years younger, so what’s amazing about First Strokes is they have the opportunity to be taught by high school students and be around their peers.” Check out her story in the latest episode of Beck’s Best Kids.
