Official Fired for Corruption Alleges Corruption

The former top security officer at the North Bergen Housing Authority fired amid a corruption probe has filed a lawsuit making his own corruption allegations at the top ranks of housing authority. Geoffrey Santini alleged “unlawful practices” including not following Housing and Urban Development policies when it comes to awarding housing to needy families off waiting lists. Six other current and former insiders, who first raised questions about Santini’s alleged misconduct, have also claimed political supporters of Mayor Nicholas Sacco and NBHA workers have been given apartments ahead of the poor on the long waiting list. Jonathan Dienst reports.
