New York Turkey Farm Preps for Big Day

Every year, right around the middle of November, the turkeys at Mace Chasm Farm in Keeseville, New York are the talk of the town. The turkeys are kept under the close eye of Flash, their guardian watchdog, who protects them from becoming another animal’s feast. “There are a lot of coyotes in the area … It’s Flash’s life. It’s what he was bred to do for hundreds of years,” says turkey farmer Courtney Grimes-Sutton. The white-feathered flock of about 110 has called the farm home for about four months. Their main purpose during their stay is to be prepped for Thanksgiving.
