Students at one local school are planting the seeds for the future of their schoolyard.Ps-216 in Brooklyn broke ground today on its new edible schoolyard…. The first of its kind in New York. The school is teaming up with a world-renowned program… Created by chef and author Alice Waters, to help integrate gardening and cooking into schools’ curriculum.Waters says she’s very pleased with the school.”There are a lot of really good ideas out there in the world. But it takes people that want to breathe life into them. And it takes places that have fertile soil. And i’d like to say this place has both.”There are six edible schoolyards in America — the one in Brooklyn is the only one that will operate year-round.
