Family in Fear After ‘Black Lives Matter' Signs Repeatedly Slashed
When Kimberly Bell put up a “Black Lives Matter” sign outside her Sacramento, California home, it was to spread a message of tolerance.
“I have a black son, and I think it’s an important message,” Bell said. “I think black lives do matter.”
But within days, her first sign was sliced in half by a vandal. So, she put up another sign, which ended up getting stolen. A third one disappeared too. She placed a fourth one inside her fence — and Thursday night, it was slashed into pieces and left on her yard.
“It made me afraid. It especially scared my son,” Bell said. “It just seems violent, in a way.”
