Confusion, Speculation as Statue of Liberty Goes Dark

The Statue of Liberty went dark Tuesday night. Some people on social media saw symbolism in the darkness, especially with the “Day Without a Woman” strike coming up Wednesday. But the cause was of the blackout involved work on a backup generator, a spokesperson for the monument said.
