Act of Service, Protests and Rallies on MLK Day in NYC

On this day honoring one of our country’s greatest fighters for freedom and equality, many decided to show their solidarity with Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision by dedicating their day to service. Volunteers for the Urban League hosted a school beautification project at New Design High School on the Lower East Side. For others, it was also a day to protest inequalities and prejudice, and people did just that in Times Square, where President Trump’s alleged comments about Haiti and African countries were front and center.
