The Flyers and Rangers split a home-and-home series over the weekend with a pair of physical games between the two divisional rivals. During Sunday's game, Philadelphia defenseman Braydon Coburn was ejected (and issued a five-minute major) for cross-checking Nik Antropov away from the action.
Apparently, Antropov slashed Coburn in the face earlier in the game, resulting in a cut above his eye that went unpunished (or unnoticed) by the on-ice officials. This, of course, resulted in Coburn taking the law into his own hands and dishing out some vigilante justice. Unfortunately for him, Colin Campbell is probably not going to approve.
Here's what Flyers head coach John Stevens had to say about a possible suspension, from Philly.com:
Because it was a match penalty, it will be reviewed by the NHL. A suspension is possible. "I would hope not," coach John Stevens said. "I asked him what happened and he thought he hit him more with his glove than anything else."
The Rangers took advantage of Coburn's actions, scoring a power play goal on the ensuing man advantage on their way to a 4-1 win. It's impossible to know what punishment the NHL has in store for this, seeing as how it seems to hand out discipline by throwing darts at randomly placed numbers on walls.

That said, I'll guess Coburn gets two games ... if he gets anything.
