The Penguins needed a game like this, and it's quite a way to open up the second half of the season as they scored five third period goals on their way to a 6-2 win over the New York Rangers. Marc-Andre Fleury kept the Penguins in it early, turning aside 32-of-34 shots, while the offense took over in the third period, peppering Henrik Lundqvist with 16 shots.
Sidney Crosby picked up four points in the win, while Petr Sykora and Kris Letang each scored a pair of goals. For Letang, the two goals have to be a huge confidence builder, as he entered the game with only one on the season. The talent has always been there for the 21-year-old defenseman, it's just been a matter of consistency.
Also of note in this game was an impressive fight between Eric Godard and Colton Orr right off the opening faceoff, three seconds into the game. Godard appears to take the win.
Flames 5, Sabres 2: Maybe the Sabres should have saved some of those goals from Tuesday for their game against the Flames, as they fell 5-2. Mike Cammalleri picked up a hat trick, giving him 25 goals on the season, while Dion Phaneuf and Todd Bertuzzi also scored in the win.
Predators 5, Canucks 3: Maybe Mats Sundin wasn't the final piece to the Canucks' Stanley Cup puzzle after all. With their 5-3 loss to Nashville on Wednesday, the Canucks are now 1-7 since Sundin joined the team. They've lost seven in a row.
Blackhawks 3, Ducks 2:Bobby Ryan's 17th goal of the season wasn't enough for Anaheim, as it dropped a 3-2 decision against Chicago. Jonathan Toews gets credit for the game-winner, while Adam Burish and Patrick Kane also picked up goals.
