Artist Paints Obama Mural on Garage

The new mural of Barack Obama on Seattle’s Capitol Hill is a political statement from the artist, as well as a ploy to ward off graffiti taggers. Artist Shelly Farnham painted a Barbarella-like image on her garage over two years ago, but after a long galactic reign, the image was obliterated with graffiti. She replaced the entire image with what she thinks is a symbol of hope and inclusiveness, and maybe tap into the tagger’s emphathy.
