Steve Harvey is Back to Host Miss Universe Contest Despite Last Year's Gaffe

Harvey will co-host the show with model Ashley Graham

The Colombian contestant was already wearing this year’s Miss Universe crown when host Steve Harvey returned to announce on live television that he had mistakenly read from a cue card. NBC 5’s Christian Farr reports.

Well, he's had an entire year to practice getting it right this time.

Despite last year's name blunder, talk-show host Steve Harvey is back for another stint as host of the Miss Universe Competition.

The comedian will co-host the competition with model Ashley Graham.

Viewer's of last year's pageant can hardly forget Harvey's gaffe, when he incorrectly announced first runner-up Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutiérrez, as the pageant winner. The mistake wasn't picked up until after Gutierrez had received her crown and sash, and enjoyed a brief moment's celebration.

Harvey apologized for the error and said the winner was actually Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach. The flub quickly went viral, dominating social media outlets.

The competition will air live Jan. 29th on FOX from the Philippines.
