Former Boston Bar Owner: Bulger “Wasn't a Guy to Fool With”

Former Boston bar owner Kevin O’Neil said he kept paying James “Whitey” Bulger, even after he disappeared for years, because he “wasn’t a guy to fool with,” NBC News reported. O'Neil was jailed for a year due to his association with Bulger, and Thursday was the first time he testified publicly against the former leader of the Winter Hill Gang. O'Neil, 64, said he “didn’t think it was smart” to not pay the gangster, so he made payments to Bulger's account for three years, even after Bulger went on the run from authorities, the Boston Globe reported. Bulger, who is on trial for racketeering and 19 murders, often visited O'Neil's Triple O’s bar with his gang.
