The medical examiner ruled the boy's death was a homicide

A Queens mother is under arrest, accused of strangling her own child inside their Flushing apartment. Afriyie Gaspard was charged Monday morning, and there was drama outside the precinct as she was hauled away in handcuffs. Tracie Strahan has more.

Authorities have arrested a 29-year-old mother on murder charges in the strangulation death of her 2-year-old boy son in Queens.

Afriyie Gaspard was being held at a police precinct in the borough Monday.

Her son, Izayah Hall, was found unconscious on Friday at 5 .m. in their Jewel Avenue apartment when police responded to a 911 call. The child was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The medical examiner determined Sunday the boy's death was a homicide.

Police allege Gaspard strangled the chlid because he had been crying too much.

It wasn't known if she had an attorney.
