A 60-year-old woman suffered a broken wrist as she escaped from a band of muggers Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, police said.

A 60-year-old woman suffered a broken wrist as she fought to escape a band of muggers who kicked and choked her Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, police said.

Police released a surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public's help in identifying them.

The victim was walking near Westchester and Prospect avenues when she was approached from behind by the suspects, police said. One suspect placed the woman in a chokehold and attempted to grab her purse.

She was able to break loose and run. One suspect chased her and eventually kicked her in the leg, causing her to fall and fracture her wrist, police said. The suspects then fled, empty-handed.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

The victim, a mother of three who asked that her name not be revealed, told NBC 4 New York she thought she was going to die during the attack, which happened just blocks from her home. She said she now has to wear a cast for six weeks.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
