Queens Postal Worker Threw Away 2,000 Pieces of Mail: Source

A source familiar with the situation says residents in one Queens neighborhood may not be getting their mail because a postal worker has been throwing it away. Michael George reports.

Federal authorities charged a U.S. postal worker after he allegedly trashed about 2,000 pieces of mail in Queens, a source in the Queens district attorney's office confirmed.

Norberto Cintron, a Queens Village mail carrier, is assigned to the post office at 20-920 Jamaica Avenue, the source said.

Cintron allegedly threw away or failed to deliver the approximately 2,000 mail items, the source said.

It was not known if Cintron had an attorney.
