Trader Joe's to Open New Brooklyn Location Friday

Get ready for the crowds. Trader Joe's is opening its second Brooklyn location Friday.

The store will officially open for business at 9 a.m. at City Point, at 445 Gold St.

The company will also be opening locations in SoHo, at 233 Spring Street (One SoHo Square West), and on the Upper West Side, at 670 Columbus Ave., near 93rd Street. 

In New Jersey, Hoboken recently got its own Trader Joe's at 1350 Willow Ave. 

It's not yet clear when all the supermarkets are opening, though the Manhattan locations won't open until later in the year, the company says

Meanwhile, another supermarket chain with its own fan base has announced plans to open three new stores in New York and New Jersey: upstate favorite Wegmans is coming to Hanover, Montvale and Brooklyn in 2017 and 2018.

Wegmans massive stores and reasonable prices helped it land in the top spot on Market Force's list of America's favorite grocery stores. The popular chain scored a 77 percent on Market Force's Customer Loyalty Index.n

Not only did Publix tie with Wegmans for first as America's favorite grocery store, customers also named it the cleanest grocery chain in the country, according to Market Force. The chain was also found to have the fastest checkout speeds.

With a customer loyalty ranking of 76 percent, Trader Joe's narrowly missed the top spot on the list. But it did come first in one category. Trader Joe's was ranked as having the most courteous cashiers, according to Market Force.n

Texas-based grocery chain H-E-B came in third in Market Force's study of America's favorite grocery stores. The store had a 69 percent loyalty ranking, according to the study. This is a 10 percent increase from 2016.

Harris Teeter, which has locations throughout the South, came in as America's fifth favorite grocery chain in Market Force's study. The store had a 66 percent customer loyalty ranking.
Midwestern grocery chain Hy-Vee is America's sixth favorite grocery chain, according to Market Force's Customer Loyalty Index. The chain had a 65 percent ranking.
