Suspect Knocks on Brooklyn Woman's Door, Tries to Rape Her

Authorities say the attack was thwarted by another family member who happened to be in the house

Police in Brooklyn are searching for a man who burst into a home and tried to sexually assault a woman. Gus Rosendale reports.

Police are looking for a man who knocked on a Brooklyn woman's door early Thursday and tried to rape her once she opened it.

Authorities say the suspect, believed to be in his 40s, knocked on the front door of the 57-year-old victim's home in Sunset Park at about 3 a.m.

He walked into the home once the victim opened the door and tried to rape her, but another family member interceded and he ran off, police said.

The suspect is described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 pounds.
