Suburban New York lawmakers are considering a requirement for chain restaurants to post calorie counts on their menus.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators is scheduled to vote on the issue following a public hearing on Monday night.
The goals include curbing obesity, especially in children, and preventing diabetes and heart disease.
A similar "calorie labeling" law has been passed in New York City.
Westchester's legislation would primarily affect businesses operating in 10 or more locations.
