Fainting Chain at New Jersey High School Prompts Evacuation

A number of other students in the room felt “queasy,” the principal said.

Three students were sickened during a lesson at a New Jersey high school Monday, prompting a brief evacuation of the school when they fainted, police say.

South Brunswick High School principal Peter Vareal said one student got sick and fainted during a lesson on disease and blood issues, prompting two others to faint, too, CentralJersey.com reports.

A number of other students in the room felt "queasy," the principal said.

The school was evacuated as a precaution at about 10:30 a.m., and the 2,700 students were allowed back after about a half-hour after fire officials determined there was nothing in the air and the school was safe.

Ten students were evaluated on scene but none was taken to the hospital, police said.
