After not much more than an hour,”Spider-man Turn Off the Dark“, in a statement put to bed rumors that director Julie Taymor of “Lion King” fame would be out, theatergoers at Wednesdays show came out for an intermission more than willing to talk about what they say called a technical glitch; one of many the show’s had in previews.
Producers of Broadway's "Spider-Man'' musical have announced a new opening date for the show -- June 14th -- following six postponements as the troubled production endured accidents and creative revisions.
In a release, producers said performances from Tuesday, April 19th to Wednesday, May 11th have been canceled with preview performances resuming on Thursday, May 12th.
The delay -- the sixth for Broadway's most expensive show -- "will allow rehearsal time for the new changes being implemented," said a statement from the show.
This week, producers announced the delay and said they were bringing in a new creative team that will still include Julie Taymor.
"The team will be implementing a new plan to make significant and exciting revisions to the production,'' lead producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris said earlier this week.
Philip William McKinley and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa have joined the production to assist with new staging and rewrites. Musical consultants Paul Bogaev and sound designer Peter Hylenski are also on the new team.
