South Street Seaport Museum Set to Open for the First Time Since Sandy

New York's South Street Seaport museum is ready to launch its first exhibition since Superstorm Sandy.

The exhibition opens Wednesday in the museum's main lobby. It's called: ``Street of Ships: The Port and Its People.''

It examines the seaport's role in securing New York's place as America's largest city and its rise to become the world's busiest port by the start of the 20th Century.

It also lays the groundwork for the July return of the museum's 1885 cargo ship, Wavertree.

The Lower Manhattan museum has been making strides since enduring floods up to 7 feet deep. The 2012 storm severely damaged its electrical, heating and cooling systems. Its fleet of ships was largely undamaged.
