Son Killed After Saving Father in Queens Robbery

A brutal attempted home invasion in a quiet neighborhood in Queens has left a young man dead after he tried to save his father from the burglars.

Police say 61-year-old Romeo Antoniello was returning home from work at a local pizzeria when thugs lurking in the bushes near his house on 95th Street and North Conduit Avenue ambushed him.

As the assailants pistol whipped him, Antoniello’s 29-year-old son, Jerry, heard the commotion and came to his father’s aid, but was shot in the back of the head by one of the would-be robbers, police said.

Jerry was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he later died.

“It’s horrible, I don’t understand,” said neighbor Williams Arenas, who regularly went Romeo’s pizza parlor. “This is a good neighborhood for the most part. I can’t see anybody actually coming in here and doing something like this.”

The perpetrators fled and police are still looking for the killers.
