A man was shot and critically hurt outside an all-night diner with a star-studded history in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, police said Monday.

Investigators said two groups of people argued inside the Cozy Soup 'n'Burger on Broadway around 5:30 a.m. Monday. The groups took the fight outside, where shots were fired.

One person was hit and is in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital after first fleeing the scene. Investigators are searching for suspects.

The popular diner near New York University has a wall lined with photographs, some autographed, of celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Barbara Eden and Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Adam Sandler. It was featured in Sandler's movie "Big Daddy."
