Sharpton Calls for Inquiry in Alleged NYPD Assault

The Rev. Al Sharpton calls for a thorough investigation into a man's claim that he was sodomized by police officers in a New York City subway station

The Rev. Al Sharpton is condemning police brutality and calling for a thorough investigation into a man's claim that he was sodomized by police officers in a New York City subway station.

Brooklyn resident Michael Mineo says he was grabbed, thrown to the ground and violated with the antenna of a police radio during the scuffle.

Sharpton on Saturday castigated the police department for denying that anything improper took place before the investigation is complete.

The matter is now being probed by Brooklyn prosecutors.

Mineo was hospitalized for four days after the incident with anal injuries.

Sharpton says he plans on visiting Mineo Saturday.

Mineo is white, but sharpton says he is outraged by police brutality no matter what the ethnicity of the victim.
