Queens Zoo Debuts Rare Pigs

The Queens Zoo has publicly debuted three rare pigs.

The trio of mulefoot hogs -- a breed of domestic pig classified by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy as critically rare -- are now on display at the Queens Zoo in Flushing Meadows.

The mulefoot is different from other pig breeds in that they have single non-cloves hooves that resemble  those of a mule, zoo officials said. They're rare because they are no longer commonly bred by farmers.

The female pigs at the zoo have coarse black coats typical of the breed.
