Queens Dad Arrested in Death of Infant Daughter

The medical examiner said the child died of abusive head trauma

The parents of a 5-month-old girl who was found unconscious with multiple skull fractures over the weekend told police that the infant suffered the fatal injuries while a priestess tried to rid her of a so-called “evil eye,” police sources have told NBC 4 New York. Wale Aliyu reports.

A 36-year-old Queens father has been arrested on murder charges in the death of his 5-month-old daughter.

Police announced the arrest of Jorge Baque on Tuesday after his daughter, identified as Alaia Baque, was found unconscious at her home in Queens in July. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors say the baby died of "abusive head trauma."

If convicted, Baque faces up to 25 years to life in prison. Information on his lawyer was not immediately available.
