Thief Charges Popeye's Employee With Broom, Throws Garbage: Police

Police released surveillance video of a suspect they say charged a Popeye’s employee with a broom in Brooklyn and stole the worker’s cellphone.

Authorities are looking for a man who charged a Brooklyn Popeye's employee with a broom, yelled at him and stole his cellphone before running off.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect standing outside the Popeye's on Nostrand Avenue Nov. 8, then getting into a confrontation with the employee at the door.

The video shows the employee backing up inside the store as the suspect grabs a large broom and pursues him. He then grabs a garbage can and, off camera, either hurls it in the worker's direction or dumps the trash on the floor before leaving.

The worker was not hurt.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the suspect to call police.
