Stolen Van Driver Crashes into Tractor-Trailer in Bronx: NYPD

A chase involving a stolen van ended in a scary crash in the Bronx. Police say the van was stolen a few blocks from the scene and when they tried to pull the driver over he sped away. He eventually crashed into a tractor-trailer and was hospitalized.

A 21-year-old man driving a stolen van crashed into a tractor-trailer as he tried to flee police in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The suspect was driving a van stolen from East 233rd Street in Woodlawn and began speeding when police tried to pull him over, police said.

The pursuit ended when he crashed into the tractor-trailer near a gas station at Van Courtland Avenue East.

The suspect was taken to Jacobi Hospital with neck and back injuries, police said. Charges are pending.
