Owner Finds Pit Bull Shot Dead in Long Island Backyard

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward in its investigation into the shooting death of a pet pit bull found bleeding in his owner's backyard last weekend.

The 4-year-old male pit bull was found by his owner in the fenced-in yard of their Islip Terrace home, according to authorities. The dog, Jax, had blood coming out of his mouth.

Jax was taken Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, where a necropsy determined he had been killed with a pellet shot to the chest, according to his owner.

The SPCA is offering $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed Jax.
