Parents Charged in Alleged Abduction of Daughter, 10: NYPD

Police say they've arrested two parents in the alleged abduction of their 10-year-old daughter in Manhattan.

Jacqueline Hendricks, 39, and Carlos Hicks, 42, were charged in the Wednesday kidnapping of Celine Hicks, the NYPD said.

Authorities had put out an Amber Alert for the girl after she was allegedly taken by her parents, who do not have custody.

The Amber Alert was canceled shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, about 24 hours after Hendricks allegedly abducted her daughter after picking her up from Castle Middle School on Henry Street on the Lower East Side.

There was no immediate word on where the child was found. She was believed to have been with both her mother and father.

Celine Hicks lives with another family member, according to police. Authorities had said the parents have some history of violence.

Hendricks was charged with custodial interference and Carlos Hicks was charged with custodial interference and aggravated harassment. It wasn't known if they had attorneys.
