Dozens of firefighters responded as flames tore through an apartment building in the West Village on Wednesday night.

The fire broke out at 130 Jane St. just before 11:20 p.m., according to fire officials. The blaze started on the upper floors and eventually spread to the roof, sending smoke billowing into the air.

About 140 firefighters fought the fire and it was brought under control at 1:25 a.m. One of the firefighters suffered a minor injury and was taken to an area hospital.

It appeared that the fourth, fifth and sixth floors were damaged in the fire, and officials said some people were displaced.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow lives in the building. In a statement, she said that she and her partner weren’t injured.

“My partner Susan and I are fine, as are our dogs. We are most concerned for our neighbors, but we are grateful that no one, as far as we know, was hurt,” Maddow said in the statement.

Fire official said they’re investigating the cause of the blaze.

The Red Cross said it had registered eight families.
