FBI's Email Probe Back in Spotlight

The FBI obtained a warrant to search emails related to the Hillary Clinton private server probe that were discovered on ex-congressman Anthony Weiner's laptop, law enforcement officials confirmed. The news comes as an anonymous government official said that FBI Director James Comey may have acted independently when he sent several members of Congress a letter about the newly discovered emails on Friday. Top Justice Department leaders had discouraged the FBI from alerting Congress, given the proximity to the presidential election and the potential for political fallout, the official said. The FBI decision to review the new emails, as part of its investigation into Clinton's private email server, breathed new life into Clinton's email woes and gave ammo to Donald Trump. At a rally in Phoenix, Trump accused the Justice Department of doing everything it can to protect Clinton and said that the developments represent the biggest political scandal since Watergate.

Bridge Trial Coming to a Close

A defense lawyer for a former aide to Republican Gov. Chris Christie will give his closing argument on Monday in the George Washington Bridge lane-closing trial. The prosecution will then get a chance to present a rebuttal summation before jurors begin deliberations. The trial will soon be in the jury's hands to decide the fate of former Christie deputy chief of staff Bridget Kelly and former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive Bill Baroni. A federal prosecutor told jurors on Friday that Kelly and Baroni were so eager to aid Christie's rising political career in 2013 that they concocted a plan to create gridlock at the country's busiest bridge to punish the Fort Lee mayor, who didn't want to go along for the ride.

2 Women Killed at NY Party Remembered

A vigil will be held Monday for the two women who were killed in a Halloween party shooting on Sunday morning. Omani Free, 18, and Tabitha Cruz, 20, were shot when someone opened fire at the Newburgh party, possibly following a dispute there earlier in the night. Five other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Cruz’s father said Sunday that “my dream just died.” The vigil will be held at Newburgh Free Academy, where Free was a high school senior.

Human Ashes Lead to Opera Scare?

Police say a man from Texas caused panic at the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday afternoon when he scattered what may have been cremated human remains into the orchestra pit. Authorities have yet to officially identify the powdery substance that stopped the performance of Gioachino Rossini's "William Tell" and led anti-terrorism police to converge on the nation’s premier opera house. The man from Texas has been located but not identified by police. 

Manhattan’s Oldest Church 250 Years Later

Manhattan's oldest church celebrated its 250-year history on Sunday by unveiling a renovated sanctuary and a new 9/11 Chapel of Remembrance. Best known as the “Little Church that Stood,” St. Paul’s Chapel of the Parish of Trinity Church Wall Street is New York City’s longest standing church. Members have included George Washington, who prayed there after he took the oath of office as the first president. It’s best known for surviving the 9/11 terror attacks without even a broken window.
