Part of a plane's landing gear broke as the aircraft was parked at Newark Airport on Friday evening, officials said.
No passengers or crew were aboard the United Airlines plane when the axle broke, a spokeswoman for United said in a statement.
Fire crews responded and no injuries were reported.
The A320 Airbus was removed to be repaired and to determine what caused the axle to break, the spokeswoman said.
