A northern New Jersey man is accused of impersonating a police officer after he pulled over an off-duty cop on the Garden State Parkway last week, authorities said.
NJ.com reports Woodbridge Sgt. Charles Stab was in his personal vehicle when 68-year-old Richard Goldrick pulled up behind him in a black Chevrolet Suburban with emergency lights flashing.
But police said Goldrick fled as soon as both vehicles stopped.
Stab obtained a description of the suspect and a license plate number, according to police. Goldrick was arrested the next day. Authorities said they found a .22-caliber gun and fraudulent documents in the Nutley man's car.
Goldrick is charged with impersonating a police officer and related offenses. He's being held on $52,000 bail.
It's unclear if he has an attorney.
