An exploding transformer may have caused a large car fire on a Midtown Manhattan street Saturday, authorities say.

An explosion rocked the car on East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue at around noon. The flames then spread to the high-rise building next to it.

No one was hurt in the fire, and the street intersection re-opened to traffic a few hours later.

Fire officials said a transformer exploding under the street may have sparked the fire.
