A man followed another man to an apartment building’s elevator in the Bronx and beat and robbed him, police say.

The NYPD didn’t say why the 48-year-old man was targeted in the attack in Fordham, but the suspect was able to get away with a cellphone and a wallet from the victim.

Officials say on Sept. 14, the suspect followed the victim inside an apartment building on Walton Avenue and 183rd Street. When the man got to the elevator, police said the suspect then brutally punched him in the face.

Police say this man beat and robbed another man in the Bronx.

The victim quickly fell to the ground and the suspect continued to deliver the violent blows until he lost consciousness, authorities said. That is when the suspect stole the victim’s phone and wallet and took off, heading south on Walton Avenue, the NYPD said.

The victim suffered cuts to his face and head and was taken to an area hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition.

Video from the scene shows the suspect follow the victim into the building and then wind up and punch him.

Investigators released surveillance footage (above) of the suspect who is seen with an umbrella and wearing a red, white and black shirt

Police urge witnesses to call Crime Stoppers with tips that could help them arrest the suspect before he strikes again.
