Livery Cab Owners to Protest Mayor's Medallion Plan

More than a thousand livery base owners and cab drivers plan to stage a citywide protest Monday. Mayor Bloomberg has a proposal that will force these cabbies to buy pricey medallions in order to legally pick up street hails. At $600,000 each, many of the drivers can’t see the sense behind the Mayor?s plan, and they want him to know it.
