New Jersey State Troopers' Cruisers Struck by Lightning on Garden State Parkway

State police say two troopers escaped serious injury when their cruisers were struck by lightning at a Garden State Parkway construction site as isolated storms rolled through the area Tuesday.

One of the officers was being evaluated at a hospital after the strike shortly after 2 p.m. in Cape May County's Middle Township, but authorities said he was expected to be OK.

The trooper in the second vehicle wasn't injured. Their names have not been released.

Both cars sustained damage and were towed from the scene.
