L.I. Grandmother Runs Marathon in Every State

An athletic 60-year-old grandmother from Long Island is celebrating a remarkable goal: She's now run a marathon in every state.

Gloria Linares, of Great Neck, completed the "Mayor's Marathon'' in Anchorage, Alaska on Saturday in 4 hours and 20 minutes.

The New York Post reports that the retired manicurist ran her first marathon in New York City in 1978, and has been steadily adding more to her resume ever since.

She runs 10 miles a day and eats a lot of fruits and vegetables. Her next goal is to run a marathon on every continent. She has already raced in South America and Europe, and hopes to run a marathon in Antarctica in 2015.
