Fire Rips Through Long Island Knights of Columbus

A Knights of Columbus hall in Long Beach was destroyed by fire, devastating the neighbors who had congregated there after being wiped out by Sandy. The community is now facing the loss of a central gathering place.

Fire officials say a fire tore through the Knights of Columbus Hall in the storm-ravaged community of Long Beach, Long Island.

The hall had provided food and shelter for victims displaced by Sandy.

The fire, which broke out at around 3 a.m. Monday, heavily damaged the building.

Video from the scene showed just a burned out shell of a building after firefighters had doused the flames.
