NJ Man Sentenced to 3 Years in Videotaped Beating of Homeless Man

A 22-year-old man was sentenced to three years in New Jersey state prison for the videotaped beatings of a homeless man in 2011. Sheldon Dutes reports.

A New Jersey man captured on video beating a homeless man days before Christmas in 2011 has been sentenced to three years.

Authorities say Taylor Giresi was filmed by a teenage friend as he beat David Ivins in Wall Township.

Ivins, who with his thick beard and layers of clothes, was a familiar sight in Wall, Belmar and Lake Como.

The videotape, which was posted on YouTube, showed Giresi punching and kicking Ivins in the face, bloodying his nose, before telling him, "Merry Christmas."

Giresi appeared in a Monmouth County court Friday morning to be sentenced on charges including aggravated assault.

He admitted he was wrong and said he has already apologized to Ivins.
