Hoboken Dealing With Another Water Disruption

Hoboken’s mayor says the city’s recent water woes have their roots in a contract signed two decades ago. Her political opponent says she’s the one who should have taken responsibility when she took office. Chris Glorioso reports.

Some Hoboken residents are dealing with another water disruption, the fifth such problem in the past eight days.

The Jersey Journal reports that a water main sustained a small rupture Thursday night as workers were replacing a valve.

United Water spokesman Steve Goudsmith tells the newspaper that about 125 residents were affected.

Repairs were expected to be completed by Friday afternoon.

The disruption comes after the square-mile city sustained several water main breaks and leaks last week, leaving part of the city without water and forcing officials to issue a boil water advisory for all residents for three days.

No boil water advisory was issued for Thursday's disruption.

Hoboken's mayor says the city's recent water woes have their roots in a contract signed two decades ago.
